Restaurateurs Mary-Catherine Deibel's and Deborah Hughes' new restaurant opened six years ago to great fanfare and glowing reviews. Named one of the Ten Top New Restaurants in the World by Food & Wine, Best New Restaurant by Boston Magazine, and the Boston Pick by Gourmet, UpStairs on the Square has become an institution in the heart of Harvard Square.

In the first floor, wood-paneled Monday Club Bar, guests can enjoy Hughes' dramatic and award-winning design, two fireplaces and sweeping views of the Square while they sip and sup on casual, accessible fare all day from 11:30. A bar and cocktail menu is available late night and between lunch and dinner or for our famous afternoon tea on Saturday afternoons.

The UpStairs Soiree Dining Room, reminiscent of a glowing and colorful jewel-box-like supper club, is lit with the flicker of working fireplaces at each end of the room. Distinguished by a small elegant bar with silver leaf "champagne bubbles" as well as exuberant round windows facing the park, this dining room serves an artisanal fine dining menu. The wine program at UpStairs on the Square offers a large selection of wines by the glass, half bottles and champagnes.

Using the best of seasonal ingredients, the restaurant prides itself on hand-crafted, finely-tuned dishes that balance taste with texture and food with carefully selected wines from a list featuring small producers and many interesting wines by the glass. Wine tastings and other special events are held on selected weekday evenings.
